NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—After over two hours, power has been restored to thousands of customers without electricity.

At around 11:30 am, power went out in the 5th and 6th wards of New Brunswick, as well as in Franklin, North Brunswick, and parts of the College Avenue Campus.

The power outage was due to failure in one of their substations.

The outage had also affected St. Peter’s Hospital, which kicked in the use of its back-up generators during the two hours.

Residents of New Brunswick were advised to go to the warming stations that were already opened due to the extreme cold temperatures.

Rutgers students in the impacted areas were advised to go to their closest student center.
