NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On January 10 at approximately 2am, a North Brunswick man was shot in the leg weilding a silver handgun in Camilo’s restaurant, located at 114 French Street.

The gunman came into the restaurant demanding money from the register, and when one man handed over his wallet, an altercation broke out between that man and the suspect.

The North Brunswick resident, who was not identified,  came to the victim’s aid, and was shot in the leg by the suspect.

After grabbing an undisclosed amount of money from the register, the suspect allegedly fled in a black Nissan Maxima.

Police are still actively looking for the suspect, who was described by a witness as a tall man, between the ages of 35 and 40, cleanshaven and wearing a black Northface jacket with a tan hooded sweatshirt.

The 38-year-old gunshot victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
