Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 6 in Theatre District

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The public is invited to officially kick off to the holiday season on Friday, December 6, as the New Brunswick City Market hosts their 21st Annual Tree lighting and chili cook-off.

The festivities will be held on the corner of Livingston Avenue and George Street, in front of Monument Square from 5pm-7pm.

The free family-friendly event will host local vendors and include live music and dance performances, horse-drawn carriage rides, and a visit from Santa Claus.

NJ Law Passed in Response to Undercover NYPD Surveillance in New Brunswick

TRENTON, NJ—On September 9, Gov. Chris Christie signed a new law that requires out-of-state police to notify New Jersey's government officials before conducting counter-terrorism operations within the state.

The bill, A2948, was passed by the state legislature after it was discovered that New York City police was conducting extensive surveillance on Muslim communities within New Jersey, including at Rutgers University.

New Rutgers Class Explores Theology of Springsteen Lyrics

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—New Jersey's own Bruce Springsteen is widely considered to be one of the most prolific songwriters of the past few decades,  but next year academics at Rutgers will be exploring The Boss on a different level.

For the upcoming spring semester, Rutgers Universty has announced that they will offer one-credit course that will study the religious theology behind Springsteen's lyrics and the subject matter of his songs.

Popular Beatles Cover Band Performing at State Theatre on Saturday

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Fab Faux are scheduled to perform at the historic State Theatre once again this Saturday Novemer 23.  This time they will be accompanied by their own horns and strings sections.

Will Lee, the house bassist on David Letterman's talk show, and his neighbor Rich Vivino, band leader for Conan O'Brien's show, started the cover band  in 1998 along with New Jersey’s Jack Petruzelli, Rich Pagano, and Frank Agnello.

New Brunswick Water Utility Repeatedly Covered Up Quality Violations For 3+ Years

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—City officials have yet to respond to charges the New Brunswick Water Utility repeatedly lied in water quality reports filed with the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

The DEP announced late today that it has filed administrative orders alleging the New Brunswick Water Department repeatedly filed false reports for various water quality tests, submitted incorrectly calculated test results, and failed to notify the public when standards were not met.
