NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A November 10 brawl between customers and bar employees at the Olde Queens Tavern left one man hospitalized in serious condition.

The fight occurred shortly after midnight on a Sunday morning, when two patrons became “agitated and aggressive” when bar staff tried to kick them out but ended up physical, according to a report on NJ.com.

Michael Mattingly, a 25-year-old Rutgers alumnus from Berkley Heights, remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, more than a week after the fight, according to hospital spokesman Peter Haigney.

Mattingly was identified by police as the patron who needed to be hospitalized after receiving serious injuries during the brawl.

Another NJ.com report, this one from 2009, described Mattingly getting arrested in his hometown for “driving while intoxicated, careless driving, operating a motor vehicle in a prohibited area and defacing county property.”
