NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Tonight, the Rutgers University Programing Association will host an event that has become a fan favorite: the 6th Annual Charity Bed Race as part of the school’s homecoming celebration.

Other Homecoming weekend events include the Rutgers home football game against Houston (Saturday at noon) and a 5K to raise funds for Rutgers Against Hunger (Sunday at 9am).

The popular bed races begin tonight at 9pm in front of the Rutgers Student center on College Avenue.  That portion of College Avenue will be closed to cars during this time.

In this event, four team members are chosen to represent their student organizations in a race similar to the beginning of a bobsled run.

Three of the four members push a decorated beds on wheels as fast as they can, while another simply enjoys the ride.  Teams will typically dress in themed costumes as well.

Prizes are awarded to the fastest team, best decorated bed, best team costumes, and team that contributes the most diapers to charity.

More information on the Bed Race and other Rutgers homecoming events is available at the Rutgers Homecoming website.
