The Stuntcocks and Brunswick Basement Burlesque Show at Court Tavern

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A unique burlesque show is bringing its brand out of basements and attics, and into the city's most famous rock club tonight.

Brunswick Basement Burlesque consists of three women and one man who hope to replicate the style of American burlesque popular more than a century ago.

"We do old-school traditional burlesque," founder Jess Paikarovski told the Home News Tribune.

Christie Coming to New Brunswick For College Avenue Groundbreaking Ceremony

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Tomorrow, Gov. Chris Christie is expected to join officials from the city government, Rutgers University, and the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO) to celebrate the groundbreaking on a slew of university development projects.

The event will take place on Seminary Place at noon on Thursday September 19, according to the Governor's public schedule.

Affordable Housing for Domestic Abuse Survivors Coming to Historic Downtown Church

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Town Clock Community Development Corporation (CDC) is poised to build a housing community inside the First Reformed Church that will be a haven for domestic abuse survivors when it opens in the spring of 2015.

The church, which dates back to 1717, has a congregation of around 60 people but enough space for 600.  So, they have decided to restructure the sanctuary from one large room into ten affordable apartments, along with a multiuse worship and community space.

Central Jersey Jazz Festival Coming to New Brunswick This Weekend

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—This Saturday, the New Brunswick Jazz Project is celebrating the Central Jersey Jazz Festival at Monument Square, located in front of the Heldrich Hotel.

This Saturday’s headliners include critically acclaimed jazz musicians such as drummer Ralph Peterson and the Unity Project, featuring saxophonist Don Braden.

This event is part of New Brunswick Cultural Center's free outdoor music series Hub City Sounds.

A New Connection Coming to Historic Raritan Towpath

FRANKLIN, NJ—A pedestrian bridge planned for users of the towpath along the Delaware & Raritan Canal would provide access to the towpath near the intersection with DeMott.

The historic Landing Lane Bridge, which crosses the Raritan into Piscataway's Johnson Park, is where the towpath begins.  Currently, that is the only access point on an a nearly eight-mile stretch of the towpath beginning in New Brunswick.
