NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Newark’s Mayor won a decisive victory across the state in today’s special primary election for United States Senate.

Cory Booker also bested his three opponents among New Brunswick voters, earning the votes of 764 city residents, nearly half of all of those who voted.

New Brunswick voters largely mirrored the voting patterns of other Democrats statewide, with Frank Pallone receiving an extra boost from the Hub City.  He has represented New Brunswick as a Congressman for two decades.

According to WNYC, as of 9:27pm, Booker has an insurmountable lead statewide with 59.2% of ballots counted going to him.  Pallone is in second place with 22.7% of ballots counted, and Congressman Rush Holt trails him with 13.3% of the vote.

Assembly Speaker Shiela Oliver is currently in last place with just 4.5% of the vote.

Over 95% of ballots cast today were from Democrats.  A simultaneous Republican primary only drew 72 voters.

Booker will face the winner of the Republican primary Steve Lonegan, a former mayor of Bogota, NJ.
