NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Five gunshots rang out at the intersection of Easton Avenue and Bristol Street at about 2:42 am the morning of August 4.  But that was just one of several instances of violence in that neighborhood over the course of that night.
A witness told NJ.com there was a brawl that took place an hour earlier in the same vicinity. Â And less than an hour after the shooting, a man showed up at St. Peter’s University Hospital with a stab wound that he sufferred somewhere on Easton Avenue, according to police radio transmissions.
The radio transmissions confirm that the victim was shot in the right calf and was met by an ambulance in front of the Knight Club bar at 164 Easton Ave. Â Police also said the victim sufferred “laceration to his nose, and an injury to his left eye.”
Shortly after, police announced over the air that they had spotted a suspect near the intersection of Hamilton and Division Streets and chased a man throughÂ
“I want a perimeter set up. Â He’s in one of these backyards,” an officer said, describing the suspect as a thin black man with a goatee wearing a black hoodie, red cap, and shorts.
The suspect “shed some of his clothing” in front of 36 Hardenbergh Street, before fleeing towards Condict Street.
The victim was not found until fifteen minutes later. Â Police later told NJ.com that he was not cooperating with the investigation.
And, last night, emergency medical personnel responded to the Knight Club bar at 164 Easton Avenue where a man was beaten up and unconscious, according to police radio transmissions.
