NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Have you ever wondered at how your favorite radio station was able to play your favorite songs and broadcast live audio through invisible airwaves to your car or home?

This Saturday, June 15, a presentation by Richard Phoenix, president of the acclaimed New Jersey Radio Museum, will provide some answers as he describes the evolution of radio through history.

Mr. Phoenix will be revealing at how the radio came into being, and served as an integral part in New Brunswick’s development of public communications systems.

Phoenix’s talk coincides with the library’s efforts to digitize former broadcasts of the WDGN radio program “Magic Carpet,” from rare 78 rpm phonograph records that were previously donated to the library.

Owned by the Boyd family that also operated the Home News, WDGN once served the greater New Brunswick area.

The event is free for all, and will take place at the Carl T. Valenti Community Room of the New Brunswick Public Library at 60 Livingston Avenue.
