NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—This Thursday June 6 the Children’s Specialized Hospital will be providing free-of-charge, quick developmental screenings for children ages 1 to 5 years old at the New Brunswick Free Public Library, located at 60 Livingston Avenue.
The screenings, also known as Quick Peek, will be held every 30 minutes from 10am until 7pm. Experts will be on hand and “sharing valuable resources for parents curious about their child’s early development.”
According to the event announcement, “13% of children in the United States have a developmental delay and many are not identified by the time they enter kindergarten.”
Through questionnaires for parents, and through tasks and games for the children to complete, experts will test the children for developmental delays such as autism, ADHD, OCD, among many others.
Amy Norton, Quick Peek Coordinator says that she tests childrens’ “fine motor skills, gross motor skills, communication, and personal/social problem solving.”
“We know that the earlier, the better when it comes to providing services for children who have delays.”

New Brunswick’s Children’s Specialized Hospital, a part of the Robert Wood Johnson complex, will be holding a series of these screenings throughout the state.
