NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Police and firefighters responded to a fatal accident on Joyce Kilmer Avenue Monday night where one man was killed and two others were injured.

At approximately 6:08 p.m., a burgundy Toyota 4-Runner was traveling southbound on Joyce Kilmer Avenue near the intersection with 8th Street when it collided with a silver Toyota 4-Runner traveling northbound on the same street, according to police.

The burgundy 4-Runner flipped over and landed near Eighth Street, according to police. The driver, Aneudi Rodriguez, a 25-year-old man from New Brunswick, died from his injuries  

Firefighters rushed to the silver 4-Runner as the front end of the vehicle caught fire.

The driver, Florentina Dominguez, a 41-year-old woman from Maryland, and the passenger in Rodriguez’s vehicle, Marcus Maldonado, a 24-year-old man from New Brunswick, were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The New Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are further investigating the accident.
