NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Free Public Library, located at 60 Livingston Ave, will hold its Sixth Annual Photography Contest over the next two months.

This year’s theme is “New Brunswick: My City,” and anyone is eligible to enter up to three of their own original photos.  The only rule is the photos must have been taken between April 8 and June 14.

Submissions will be judged by professional photographers, as well as the library staff.

Contestants will have their work displayed at an upcoming exhibition in the Heldrich Hotel.  There will also be an opening reception, where the winners will be announced in the Carl T. Valenti Community Room at the library on July 12 at 6pm.

“The photographs must capture an aspect of New Brunswick: daily life, businesses, buildings, pets, parks,” explains librarian Kavita Pandey.

Those interested in submitting work can contact Pandey via email at [email protected] or at (732) 745-5108, extension 20.

“The library is proud to continue presenting the work of many of the talented residents. They have digitally captured the diversity of New Brunswick,” said Dr. Bob Belvin, the library’s longtime director.

The library is also hosting free photography workshops hosted by professional photographers on three consecutive Thursdays in May.  Those interested in attending can find more information at the library’s website.

The library’s associate director Linda Crittenden told NewBrunswickToday.com, “Last year’s pictures will be on display throughout the library in anticipation of this year’s event.”

“We’re really excited to see the photos we get this year.  It’s always fun to vote.  The library always has their personal favorites.”

This program is funded in part by Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission and by a grant provided by New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
