NBPD Towed At Least 116 Cars During February Snowstorm

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Beginning in the early morning hours of February 9, as a blizzard descended on the city, police officers coordinated with the city's official towing companies to remove parked vehicles from dozens of major thoroughfares.

All in all, police ordered the towing of at least 116 vehicles from city streets designated as snow emergency routes in less than 48 hours.

School Tax Levy Goes to Public Vote For First Time

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—City taxpayers will see no change in the amount of money they are taxed to fund the city's public school district if voters approve the proposed budget on April 16.

"The tax levy will stay the same for the seventh straight year," Business Administrator Richard Jannarone said.

"There's very few, if not any other district, that hasn’t raised the taxes in the last seven years and I think that's something we can all be very proud of."

10-Unit Building Opens for Homeless with Special Needs

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Promise House, a new unique housing development in the Second Ward is welcoming its first residents this month.

The ten-unit residence will provide permanent housing for a particularly at-risk subset of the homeless population, namely those who are physically disabled or mentally ill.

Triple C Housing, a South Brunswick-based non-profit, spearheaded the new construction project on Redmond Street.  Since 1979, Triple C has served the low-income special needs populations in Middlesex and Ocean counties.
