Man Pleads Guilty in 2010 Accident That Killed Rutgers Student Cyclist

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The man who struck and killed Rutgers student Chelsea Traynor with his truck in 2010 has pleaded guilty to a count of death by auto, admitting he was driving recklessly.

A press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Roger Hode, a 43-year-old man from South River, pleaded guilty in an agreement with Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet.

New Brunswick Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A city with a rich Irish heritage, New Brunswick is celebrating with traditional Irish food and drink at local venues like The Old Bay Restaurant and Tumulty's Pub.

The Old Bay's Free Irish Buffet on including corned beef, boiled cabbage, boiled potatoes, Guinness Irish Shepherd's Pie, and Irish Soda Bread.  According to an employee, the "buffet will start at 2pm, but doors will open at 1pm."

Famous Soccer Trophy Visits New Brunswick High School

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Johnson & Johnson helped to put on two unique sports attractions at New Brunswick High School this Friday, beginning with an opportunity to view the 2014 FIFA World Cup soccer trophy.

The high school's gymnasium had a lively atmosphere, with faculty members, students, families, and avid soccer fans of all cultures and ages enjoying the trophy and taking pictures with it in the afternoon.

Church Street Art Gallery Celebrates Fifth Anniversary in Hub City

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Alfa Art Gallery celebrated five years in downtown New Brunswick last Thursday evening at their establishment, located at 108 Church Street.


Alfa Art, a non-profit, took time to honor the contributions of their many interns as they opened a new exhibit in collaboration with another non-profit organization, New York City's Sylvia Wald and Kim Po Art Gallery.

Rafano Resigns, Leaving New Brunswick’s 79-Year-Old Freeholder Carrying Torch For County Democrats

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Only one of three incumbents will be seeking re-election in this year's campaign for Middlesex County's Board of Chosen Freeholders, as former New Brunswick City Councilwoman Blanquita Valenti will seek a fourth term on the governing body.

Valenti, a former teacher in Woodbridge Township and widow of a former New Brunswick City Commissioner, served on New Brunswick's appointed school board from 1971-1974 and first joined the City Council by appointment in 1990.
