EL PASO, TX—Border patrol agents in downtown El Paso caught a man on March 11 who was wanted on several active arrest warrants in New Brunswick, including one for the 2010 murder of a fourteen-year-old boy, according to a report on NJ.com.
Agents with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency caught the 27-year-old fugitive, Marco Antonio Miranda-DeJesus, after witnessing him rappel down the side of the Good Neighbor International Bridge at 10:35pm local time.
The bridge, commonly referred to as the Stanton Street Bridge, is a major connection linking El Paso, Texas with Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.  From there, Miranda-DeJesus ran north towards El Paso, attempting to illegally cross the border into the United States.
During processing, agents discovered that Miranda-DeJesus had numerous outstanding arrest warrants.
He was wanted in New Brunswick for charges of murder in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree, second degree aggravated assault, first degree gang criminality, second degree conspiracy, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
In May 2011, he was among three men charged with the stabbing murder of 14-year-old Alex Gombas, a resident of Somerset, NJ who attended New Brunswick High School.
Another boy was also stabbed, but survived the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Jersey Avenue and Delavan Street.
Miranda-DeJesus was charged with illegal entry into the United States and was briefly held at the El Paso County Detention Facility before being extradited to New Jersey.
