New Brunswick's third annual restaurant week promotion begins with a bar crawl tonight from 4-10pm. New Brunswick City Market

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Restaurant Week is fast becoming a New Brunswick tradition. And, each year since its inception, it has lasted two weeks, despite its name.

The organization that manages New Brunswick’s Special Improvement District, New Brunswick City Market, is sponsoring the third annual incarnation of the popular event inspired by New York City’s.

So when you’re getting a sub at Jersey Subs on George Street between July 14-28, don’t forget to mention it’s Restaurant Week.  You’ll get $2 off.

Or if you’re getting a pie at Filippo’s Famous Pizza, make sure you mention it’s Restaurant Week.  And you’ll get a free pitcher of soda.

And when you purchase a food item at Hansel n’ Griddle, you can get 25 percent off of one of their popular smoothies.

Most restaurants will be offering “prix-fixe” menus for multiple courses at one flat rate.  Perhaps the classiest restaurant in town, the Frog & The Peach on Dennis Street, will be offering $19 three-course lunches and $42 three-course dinners.

In keeping with an NYC Restaurant Week tradition, Tumulty’s Pub on George Street, will be offerring their three-course prix-fixe for $20.12, to commemorate the current year.

The festivities will begin tonight with the official “Restaurant Week Bar Crawl, beginning at the Harvest Moon Brewery at 4pm.  The crawl will visit a different bar every hour, concluding at the Hyatt Hotel’s Glasswoods Tavern at 10pm.

This year there are 25 restaurants participating in the two weeks of special deals, three less than last year.

Six new restaurants joined in on the promotion: Clydz, Daryl Wine Bar, Evelyn’s, Filippo’s, Houlihan’s, and Muscle Maker Grill.

Nine restaurants, including four that closed, won’t be participating this time.  The others are Delta’s, Doll’s Place, Edo Japanese, George St. Alehouse, and Noodle Gourmet.
