NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A HAZMAT (hazardous materials) crew spent half a day working to clean up the mess left behind from an overturned tanker truck, and was forced to close Route 1 Southbound, causing major traffic delays and detours.

The accident occurred at about 5:30 am, but will take much of the day Sunday to clean up the mess, according to a report on New Brusnwick’s Patch.com.

The truck overturned on a ramp connecting Route 18 to Route 1.  No serious injuries were reported.
