A party boat docks in Highland Park after rescuing a man who jumped from one of the Goodkind Bridges that span the Raritan. Sean Monahan

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—While the New Brunswick Fire Department struggled to reach a man who had jumped off one of the two tallest bridges in New Brunswick, a party boat with flags that read “Cold Beer” and “The Bar is Open” made a successful rescue.

After bringing the jumper to a dock in Donaldson Park, he was brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.  NBPD Lt. JT Miller has not responded to several calls seeking an update on his condition.

The Goodkind Bridges together make up Route 1’s Northbound and Southbound crossings of the Raritan River and connect Edison and New Brunswick.

They were built in 1929 and 1974, and named for Morris and Donald Goodkind respectively.  The Goodkinds were father and son, and both worked as engineers for the NJ Department of Transporation.

It was unclear which bridge the man jumped from.
