Greg Brown, chair of the Presidential Search Committee, speaks to graduates at Rutgers Stadium on Sunday. Rutgers University

PISCATAWAY,NJ—A donation of $1.5 million was given to Rutgers University by the Motorola Solutions company. This gift will help create a new faculty chair in honor of Gregory Brown, the chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola Solutions.

Brown is an alumnus of Rugters who recently chaired the committee that selected Robert Barchi as the 20th President of the University.  He was also the keynote speaker at the Universitywide graduation held last weekend.

According to New Brunswick’s Patch.com, the donation made by Motorla led an anonymous donor to match Motorola’s donation with another gift of  $1.5 million.

Now, with the money from these donations Rutgers will be able to create the Gregory Q. Brown Endowed Chair in Rutgers University’s Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience. The department is well-known for its groundbreaking work in finding treatments for stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and brain and spinal cord injuries.
