NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Tumulty's Pub on George Street will host 'Rave For Sandy' this Saturday night, an event organized by two local DJ's to support the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.

The fund, chaired by First Lady Mary Pat Christie, was chosen by Matt Lev and Vincent Verderosa because of its reputation and Garden State roots.

"I chose Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund because it was the most reputable fund, which helps directly with New Jersey Relief efforts," Verderosa said.

Growing up, the Jersey shore was part of Lev's and Verderosa's lives, and the devastating aftermath of the storm affected them both.

"My parents shore house got hit pretty bad, as well as a few other friends," Lev said. "This seemed like the right thing to do."

The benefit's organizers were inspired by the electronic dance music (EDM) scene and have been apart of it for quite some time. They hope the benefit will bring together members of the community to support the ongoing relief efforts.

"Hopefully we can have a benefit event for a good cause and let the listeners mind's drift from the aftermath of Sandy," said Lev. "We play EDM because it makes people dance."

A five dollar donation will be collected at the door and all proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.

"We are not out to make money or become famous from this event," Verderosa said. "We are promoting wellness and awareness in the community, and hopefully something like this will be contagious."
